About Hannah

Picture of Hannah

Hannah has been creating and sharing her artwork online since 2003 under the pseudonym KawaiiHannah, when she made her first website. She finds it difficult to choose between her different interests and continues to try and balance crafting pixel art, painting anime artwork and building random art or theme generators (it’s an odd hobby).

Over the years, Hannah has worked on pixel art for games and custom artwork for avatar-based websites, sharing knowledge through pixel art tutorials and walkthroughs of her work. She’s most at home when in front of a computer, where she can happily lose herself in her latest creation.

When Hannah is not actually in front of her laptop, or without her sketchbook (rarely), she can be found out walking amongst nature, inline skating, or catching up with friends.

History

Back long ago; when the internet was wild, Hannah had homework she didn’t want to do and Google still counted the pages it searched, there were pockets of like-minded individuals that linked to each others’ websites to share their artwork.

Hannah had been drawing anime styled art for a bit, learning how code websites and use Photoshop and stumbled across something called “pixel dolls”. After disappearing down the rabbit hole, reading whatever tutorials she could find, she tried making some pixel art in Microsoft Paint.

The very first ones have been lost to the abyss, but here’s a couple of pieces of pixel art from 2003 (oh wow, the pillow-shading).

This was a time before she tried to limit colour palettes, or understood pixel clustering, but had a lot of fun designing characters and just working things out as she went.
