Theme Generator

Alrighty, below are the generated themes. They are randomly picked from a list, so some may not make much sense, but it can make for some interesting ideas XD There’s also a randomly picked palette if you’re stuck for colour ideas.

How it Works

When faced with a blank canvas, sometimes you just need a quick theme to spark an idea. Click on the “Generate Themes” button to randomise a new set of themes, plus a colour. By having multiple themes, sometimes these can combine to create some thought-provoking or interesting concepts.

Why multiple themes?

These are all chosen from the same list, so could appear in primary, secondary or tertiary positions. Sometimes you’ll find that the secondary or tertiary theme inspires you more than the primary one, or you like a combination of two of them. If you want to stick to a bit of a challenge though, keep the primary theme as the main theme of the image and choose the secondary or tertiary theme as a sub-theme of your drawing. Try pairing that with the chosen colour palette as well and see what you can create!

Using the colour palette

By hovering over the colour palette, you’ll be able to select and copy the hex code value of that colour. Alternatively, you could take a screenshot and paste it into your favourite art program and use the colour picker on them to use in your digital paintings or pixel art.

Want to randomise a list of your own themes?

While the list above has a bunch of random themes in it that are great for drawing, sometimes you want to pick and choose from your own list. Please remember that your list won’t be saved, so copy it into a note on your device if you want to use it again later.

  1. Enter your themes, one per line in the box below.
  2. Scroll up and hit “Generate Themes”
  3. Create the things!
